This report analyzes the disruptive themes that have driven M&A activity in 2021 in the Power Sector
M&A deal value in global power sector grew by 46%, from $261 billion in 2020 to $381 billion in 2021. In terms of deal volume, 2021 saw 2,506 deals compared to 2,157 in the previous year, recording a growth of 16%. There were 83 billion-dollar-plus M&A deals in the power sector in 2021, compared to 55 in the previous year. Solar accounted for the largest share of deal value and volume in 2021. The sub-sector recorded growth of 32% in terms of deal value and 8% in terms of deal volume in 2021, compared to 2020.
