Summary

The German foodservice profit sector generated revenue of EUR92 billion ($100 billion) in 2023, declining at a negative CAGR of 2.1% during 2018-23. The decline was primarily due to pandemic-related operational restrictions on restaurants, which severely impacted the sector during 2020 and 2021. FSR was the largest channel in Germany in 2023, accounting for a 26.7% share of total sales. FSR and pub, club & bar recorded value declines during 2018-23. During 2023-28, the German profit sector will register a strong value CAGR of 9.3%. The number of transactions will register a CAGR of 6.7%, while the number of outlets will generate a CAGR of 0.6%. Education and healthcare were the top two cost sector channels in 2023.
