Summary

Financial intermediation, real estate, and business activities contributed 24.5% to the gross value added (GVA) in 2022, followed by mining, manufacturing, and utilities (22.2%), and wholesale, retail, and hotel activities (11.1%). In nominal terms, the three sectors are expected to grow by 5.0%, 4.1%, and 3.4%, respectively, in 2023.

According to Eurostat, Helsinki-Uusimaa generated around 39.3% of the nation's GDP in 2021, and 30.9% of the total population resided in the region in 2022.

The HEX Index exhibited a downward trend over the past year. As of August 29, 2023, the index stood at 9,790.3, compared to 10,689.8 on August 29, 2022.

Scope
  • Finland's National Transport System Plan (Transport 12) includes new transportation projects for 2023-2030, proposed by the Transport Infrastructure Agency and approved by the Finnish Parliament. The investment program allocates EUR2.7 billion ($2.8 billion) for development and EUR727 million ($766.2 million) for basic infrastructure.
