Summary

Mining, manufacturing and utilities activities contributed 20.8% to the gross value added (GVA) in 2023, followed by financial intermediation, real estate and business activities (16.6%), wholesale, retail and hotels (14.2%). In nominal terms, the three sectors are expected to grow by 5.6%, 6.1% and 5.7%, respectively, in 2024.

Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte are the major cities of Brazil that contributed 27.3% to the country’s GDP and comprised 19.9% of the country’s population in 2023, according to the GlobalData’s city database.

The BOVESPA index has been on an upward trend. As of February 7, 2024, the index stood at 127,593.5, compared to 107,829.7 on February 7, 2023.
