Ferulic acid is a natural chemical which is found in the cell wall of plants and it belongs to the family of hydroxycinnamic acid. Ferulic acid is an active compound (ubiquitous natural phenolic phytochemical) which has very strong anti-oxidant properties. Its chemical name is 4-Hydroxy-3-methoxycinnamic acid and its chemical formula is C10H10O4. Ferulic acid has been used as a food additive to prevent lipid peroxidation as it is an efficacious scavenger of free radicals. Ferulic acid is taken out from rice bran oil in large quantities. As ferulic acid is a good anti-oxidant it helps in slowing the process of ageing by reducing the free radicals present on the skin. Ferulic acid also protects us against the sun damage and helps in regenerating the skin which has already been over exposed. In addition to this it enhances the stability and efficiency of vitamin C and vitamin E.

Ferulicacid market has been segmented on the basis of type, application, packaging, and geography. On the basis of type ferulic acid market is segmented into synthetic and natural ferulic acid. Natural ferulic acid is divided into two 'against type' and 'sequence type'. 'Against type' is white is colored powder and 'Sequence type' is yellow in color. Synthetic type of ferulic acid is also present in the market but at global level it is not much used.On the basis of application ferulic acid market is segmented into food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, out of which cosmetic segment is growing at a faster rate because of the anti-ageing property. Pharmaceutical segment is also expected to grow at a larger level as ferulic acid provides a wide range of benefits regarding to human health. On the basis of packaging ferulic acid market is segmented into interior packing and exterior packing. Double polythene bags and cans comes under interior packing and cardboard packaging comes under exterior packing.
