Frost Radar™: Online Video Platform for Media and Entertainment, 2024
A Benchmarking System to Spark Companies to Action - Innovation That Fuels New Deal Flow and Growth Pipelines
This Frost Radar™ analyzes online video platform (OVP) providers that offer services targeted at media and entertainment (M&E) use cases and customers. An OVP is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) that enables video content owners or holders to ingest, transcode, store, manage, protect, publish, syndicate, track, distribute, and monetize pieces of online video content. Video is at the heart of this definition, but the providers may also handle audio, metadata, encoding, transcoding, streaming, analytics, and other features and functions.
The Frost Radar™ offers a perspective on key industry trends as well as an assessment of 10 growth and innovation leaders. It plots the selected OVP providers based on 10 growth and innovation criteria, comprising qualitative and quantitative factors. The vertical axis represents the Growth Index, a measure of a company's growth performance and track record, along with its ability to develop and execute a fully aligned growth strategy and vision, a robust growth pipeline system, and effective sales and marketing strategies. To measure growth performance and track record, Frost & Sullivan considers each company’s OVP for M&E-related revenues for the years 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. The horizontal axis represents the Innovation Index, a measure of a company's ability to develop offerings/features/services/solutions (with a clear understanding of disruptive megatrends) that are globally applicable, extensible, applicable to serve multiple markets, and that align with customers' changing needs.
The inclusion criteria for OVP providers include: • A strong presence serving M&E customer segments, as opposed to only or almost entirely serving enterprise use cases • Ability to serve live broadcasts and on-demand video content • Offering core video platform services such as content management and organization • Integration with third-party applications and services in the video production and distribution ecosystem • Commercial presence in the market for at least 2 years • A minimum revenue threshold of $15 million in CY2023
Frost & Sullivan analyzes numerous companies in an industry. Those selected for further analysis based on their leadership or other distinctions are benchmarked across 10 Growth and Innovation criteria to generate their position on the Frost Radar™. The publication presents competitive profiles of each company on the Frost Radar™, considering their strengths and the opportunities that best fit those strengths.
