The transition away from older lighting technologies will benefit LEDs and other high-efficiency lighting products. These products will continue to benefit from increasing energy efficiency standards and the ongoing phase-out of inefficient lighting. Large volumes of inefficient lamps were still salable and in use in 2017, most of which will be replaced by efficient products by 2022. In addition to the transition from inefficient to efficient lighting, LED lamps’ outstanding energy efficiency will create a great deal of competition among efficient lamps, affecting overall market size as high-value LED products gain market share.
