This study examines the egg packaging market in the US, presenting historical data for the years 2013, 2018, and 2023, along with forecasts for 2028 and 2033. Additionally, annual data from 2020 to 2027 are provided. The analysis includes demand in units and current US dollars, including inflation, segmented by product, packaging material, egg format, and market.
The report categorizes products into flexible and rigid packaging. Rigid packaging encompasses plastic, paperboard, and molded fiber types, including egg cartons, corrugated boxes, egg trays and flats, gable top cartons, bag-in-box systems, plastic containers (such as bottles, jugs, jars, cups, and pails), paperboard sleeves, and composite cans. Flexible packaging includes pouches (pillow, stand-up, and side seal), bags, skin packaging, and wrap.
Both retail and commercial foodservice packaging are covered, as well as shipments to food manufacturers, excluding bulk liquid egg shipments in tanker trucks or totes. The demand is further segmented by material, including molded pulp/molded fiber, rigid plastic, paper and paperboard, expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam, and flexible plastic. For combination formats, such as a tray of eggs in a corrugated box, the value of each packaging type is counted separately within its respective segment.
Egg formats analyzed include shell eggs, liquid and frozen eggs, dried eggs, and ready-to-eat (pre-cooked) eggs.
Company market share is also evaluated with competitive analysis on industry competitors including Brodrene Hartmann, Tekni-Plex, Pactiv Evergreen, MFT-CKF, and Sonoco Products.
