Clothes Washers and Dryers in the US
The US washer and dryer industry is being impacted by a number of factors: tariffs, low cost competition, and the growth in smart home technology. In January 2018, President Trump enacted a tariff on imported washing machines after domestic suppliers cited unfair competition from foreign firms, specifically LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics, and petitioned the Trump Administration to enact a tariff to even the competitive landscape. In anticipation of the tariff, a number of foreign suppliers exported a higher than normal amount of washing machines into the US toward the end of 2017 to increase their inventory and avoid any additional costs. This new study discusses how these factors will impact sales of washers and dryer going forward.
Products covered in the study include:
Residential clothes washers
Residential clothes dryers
