This report forecasts to 2024 US security services revenue in nominal US dollars. Total revenue is segmented by service in terms of: guard services, alarm monitoring services, systems integration services, cash-in-transit and related services, and other services such as security consulting and private investigation. Total revenue is also segmented by market as follows: commercial and industrial, residential, and government and institutional.

To illustrate historical trends, total revenue is provided in annual series from 2009 to 2019; the various segments are reported at five-year intervals for 2009, 2014, and 2019.

Excluded from the scope of this report are: public safety personnel (e.g., police officers, public corrections officers, federal agents, and fire fighters); in-house, proprietary security services, such as guards, detectives, and off-duty police officers on the paid staff of (non-security) business establishments; military-style private security providers (sometimes called mercenaries); equipment installation services (aside from systems integration); locksmith activities; security products distribution and sales; and private correctional facility management.
