This report forecasts to 2028 US seafood packaging demand in nominal US dollars at the manufacturer level. Total demand is segmented by seafood format in terms of: frozen, canned and dried, and fresh. Total demand is also segmented by material as follows: paper and paperboard, plastic, metal, and other materials such as glass and molded fiber.
To illustrate historical trends, total demand is provided in annual series from 2013 to 2023; the various segments are reported at five-year intervals for 2013, 2018, and 2023.
Packaging refers to any containers, wraps, or accessories contained in or attached to containers or wraps that are used to ship seafood products to retail or foodservice locations. Packaging used for imported foods that are packaged outside of the US is excluded from the scope. This report includes only packaging for animal-based products that are intended for human consumption, and excludes meat-alternative foods.
