Roofing: United States

This report forecasts to 2027 US roofing demand in square meters and roofing demand and production in nominal US dollars at the manufacturer level. Total demand in square meters is segmented by product in terms of: asphalt shingles; single-ply; metal; bituminous; tile; and other products such as wood shingles and shakes, vegetative (green) roofing, and solar roofing. Total demand in square meters is also segmented by market as follows: new residential, residential reroofing, new nonresidential, and nonresidential reroofing.

To illustrate historical trends, total demand in square meters is provided in annual series from 2012 to 2022; total demand and production by value, and the various demand segments in square meters are reported at five-year intervals for 2012, 2017, and 2022.

Excluded from the scope of this report are such related products as: coatings used as repair and restorative compounds and not used as primary roofing; flashing; mopping asphalts, granules, and ballast used in bituminous roof installations; prefabricated roof trusses and other structural supports; roof decking materials (e.g., plywood and other engineered wood materials, concrete, metal); roofing underlayment; and roof-mount solar panels.

For the purposes of this report, demand for roofing products is measured in terms of total roof area covered, not the total amount of material used.

For any given historical year, US dollar amounts are obtained from values expressed in applicable local currency. These local currency values are converted to US dollars at the average annual exchange rate for that year. For forecast years, the US dollar amounts assume the same annual exchange rate as that prevailing in 2022.

Key macroeconomic indicators are also provided with quantified trends. Other various topics, including profiles of pertinent leading companies, are covered in this report. A full outline of report items by page is available in the Table of Contents.
