Roofing: Canada

Roofing: Canada

This report forecasts to 2027 roofing demand in square meters and roofing demand and production in nominal US dollars at the manufacturer level in Canada. Total demand in square meters is segmented by product in terms of: asphalt shingles; bituminous; single-ply; metal; tile; and other roofing products such as fiber cement, solar roofing, and vegetative (green) roofing. Total demand in square meters is also segmented by market as follows: residential reroofing, nonresidential reroofing, new residential, and new nonresidential.

To illustrate historical trends, total demand in square meters is provided in annual series from 2012 to 2022; total demand and production by value, and the various demand segments in square meters are reported at five-year intervals for 2012, 2017, and 2022.

For the purposes of this report, demand for roofing products is measured in terms of total roof area covered, not the total amount of material used. Roof coatings used as patching and repair compounds and not used as primary roofing are excluded from the scope of this report. Materials used as underlayment for other roofing products and roofing accessories, such as metal flashings, snow guards, and vents, are not included in the scope of this report. Also excluded are: mopping asphalts, granules, and ballasts used in bituminous roof installations; prefabricated roof trusses and other structural supports; roof decking materials (e.g., plywood and other engineered wood, concrete, metal); and roof-mount solar panels.

For any given historical year, US dollar amounts are obtained from values expressed in applicable local currency. These local currency values are converted to US dollars at the average annual exchange rate for that year. For forecast years, the US dollar amounts assume the same annual exchange rate as that prevailing in 2022.

Key macroeconomic indicators are also provided with quantified trends. Other various topics, including profiles of pertinent leading companies, are covered in this report. A full outline of report items by page is available in the Table of Contents.
