This report forecasts to 2027 US residential flooring demand in square feet. Total demand is segmented by product in terms of: carpets and rugs; vinyl; other resilient types such as linoleum, rubber, and cork flooring; ceramic and porcelain tile; wood; laminate; and other nonresilient types such as natural stone, engineered stone, and glass.
Total demand is also segmented by market as follows: remodel and new.
To illustrate historical trends, total demand is provided in annual series from 2012 to 2022; the various segments are reported at five-year intervals for 2012, 2017, and 2022.
For purposes of this report, flooring (synonymous with floor covering) is any finish material installed over a floor structure to provide a walking surface. Excluded from the scope of this report are subfloors and floor underlayment.
