Refractories: United States

Refractories: United States

This report forecasts to 2023 US refractory demand in metric tons, and total demand and total shipments in nominal US dollars at the manufacturer level. Total demand by volume is segmented by material in terms of: clay and nonclay. Total demand by volume is also segmented by market as follows: iron and steel; nonmetallic minerals; nonferrous metals; and other markets such as chemical manufacturing, petroleum refining, and waste incinerators.

To illustrate historical trends, total demand is provided in annual series from 2008 to 2018; total demand and total shipments by value, and the various demand segments by volume are reported at five-year intervals for 2008, 2013, and 2018.

For this report, refractories are defined according to the ASTM International definition: ""nonmetallic minerals having those chemical and physical properties that make them applicable for structures, or as components of systems, that are exposed to environments above 538 degrees Celsius (1,000 degrees Fahrenheit)"". Materials that are resistant to lower temperatures are excluded.

Key macroeconomic indicators are also provided with quantified trends. Other various topics, including profiles of pertinent leading companies, are covered in this report. A full outline of report items by page is available in the Table of Contents.
