This report forecasts to 2028 US plastic pipe demand in nominal US dollars at the manufacturer level. Total demand is segmented by resin in terms of: polyvinyl chloride (PVC); high-density polyethylene (HDPE); crosslinked polyethylene (PEX); chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC); and other resins such as fiberglass, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS), and polypropylene.
Total demand is also segmented by market as follows: potable water; storm and sanitary sewer; conduit; drain, waste, and vent; and other markets such as industrial processing, oil and natural gas, and irrigation.
To illustrate historical trends, total demand is provided in annual series from 2013 to 2023; the various segments are reported at five-year intervals for 2013, 2018, and 2023.
For purposes of this report, pipe is defined as a tubular section or hollow cylinder used primarily to convey substances that can flow – such as liquids and gases (fluids), slurries, powders, and masses of small solids. Although distinctions are sometimes made between pipe and tubes, for the purposes of this report the terms “pipe”, “tube”, and “tubular products” are used interchangeably. Excluded from the scope of this report are the following: fittings, fixtures, gutters, downspouts, hoses, and pipe liners/lining and relining.
