This report provides annual forecasts to 2027 for US nuts and seeds demand and production in pounds, and demand in nominal US dollars at the grower, processor, or importer level. Total demand in pounds and dollars is segmented by product in terms of: peanuts; almonds; cashews; pistachios; pecans; walnuts; other nuts such as macadamias, hazelnuts, Brazil nuts, and pine nuts; sunflower seeds; and flaxseeds and sesame seeds.
To illustrate historical trends, total demand, total production, the various segments, and trade are provided in annual series from 2012 to 2022.
Nuts and seeds imported into the US as part of a trail mix are excluded from demand figures. For products not grown commercially in the US – including cashews, Brazil nuts, and pine nuts – demand is valued at import prices.
This report includes the results of a proprietary national online consumer survey of US adults (age 18+).
