This report forecasts to 2026 US new motor vehicle sales, motor vehicle production, and motor vehicle park by vehicle type in units. Vehicle types include: light vehicles and medium and heavy vehicles



To illustrate historical trends, total new motor vehicle sales and motor vehicle production are provided in annual series from 2011 to 2021; motor vehicle park and the various segments are reported at five-year intervals for 2011, 2016, and 2021.

This report analyzes the US motor vehicle sector, with motor vehicles defined as self-propelled (engine-driven) on-road vehicles used to transport people or goods. Motor vehicles can be propelled by conventional internal combustion engines, be powered by batteries or fuel cells, or hybrids of the two formats.

Excluded from the scope of this report are the following vehicles: watercraft, including boats, ships, hovercraft, and submarines; aircraft, including airplanes, helicopters, aerostats, and spacecraft; railed vehicles such as trains or trams; motorcycles, scooters, and bicycles; wagons and carts; off-road vehicles used in mining, agriculture, construction, or forestry such as dump trucks or tractors; and industrial vehicles such as forklifts or automated guided vehicles (AGVs).
