This report forecasts to 2026 global sales of new motor vehicles and motor vehicle parc by vehicle type and major world region in units. Vehicle types include: light vehicles and medium and heavy vehicles.

Major world regions include North America, Western Europe, Asia/Pacific, and all other regions.

To illustrate historical trends, world and regional demand (including new sales and vehicle parc) are provided for 2011, 2016, and 2021. Finally, global production is segmented by major world region and provided for 2011, 2016, 2021, and 2026.

This report analyzes the global motor vehicle industry, with motor vehicles defined as self-propelled (engine-driven) on-road vehicles used to transport people or goods. Motor vehicles can be propelled by conventional internal combustion engines, be powered by batteries or fuel cells, or hybrids of the two formats.

Excluded from the scope of this report are the following vehicles: watercraft, including boats, ships, hovercraft, and submarines; aircraft, including airplanes, helicopters, aerostats, and spacecraft; railed vehicles such as trains or trams; motorcycles and bicycles; wagons and carts; off-road vehicles used in mining, agriculture, construction, or forestry such as dump trucks or tractors; and industrial vehicles such as forklifts or automated guided vehicles (AGVs).

This report also excludes two- and three-wheeled vehicles, including scooters and rickshaws.
