Global Construction Aggregates
This report forecasts to 2023 global demand for construction aggregates by type, application, and major world region in metric tons. Type segments include: crushed stone; sand; gravel; and other aggregates such as slate, clay, and blast furnace slag. Reported applications encompass: hydraulic concrete; road base and coverings; asphaltic concrete; and other applications such as foundation fill, railroad ballast, and pipe bedding. Major world regions include the Americas, Europe, Asia/Pacific, and Africa/Mideast.
To illustrate historical trends, world, type, application, and regional demand (including type and application segments) are provided for 2008, 2013, and 2018.
Aggregates materials excluded from the scope of this report are: minerals used in the manufacture of cement (such as clinker); aggregates used in industrial applications (such as silica sand, fracking sand, and gravel used in sand production); and industrial grades of sand used in non-construction-related applications such as glassmaking (silica sand), foundry molds, and abrasives.
For any given historical year, US dollar amounts are obtained from values expressed in the applicable local currency. These local currency values are converted to US dollars at the average annual exchange rate for that year. For forecast years, the US dollar amounts assume the same annual exchange rate as that prevailing in 2018.
