This report forecasts to 2028 US geosynthetics demand in square meters. Total demand is segmented by product in terms of: geotextiles; geomembranes; geogrids; geonets; and small volume/niche products such as geosynthetic clay liners, preformed geocomposites, and geocells.
Total demand is also segmented by market as follows: building construction; transportation infrastructure; landfills (solid waste management); mining; liquid containment; and other markets such as oil and gas, agriculture, and utilities.
To illustrate historical trends, total demand is provided in annual series from 2013 to 2023; the various segments are reported at five-year intervals for 2013, 2018, and 2023.
Unless stated otherwise, the term “geotextiles” refers only to synthetic geotextiles, as natural fiber geotextiles are not included in the scope of this report. Plastic geopipes are also excluded. Geotextiles made from natural fibers are not categorized as geosynthetics unless they include some portion of synthetic material, such as polypropylene or polyester netting. Therefore, natural fiber geotextiles with no synthetic material content are excluded from the scope of this report.
