This report forecasts to 2026 US countertop demand in square feet. Total demand is segmented by material in terms of: engineered stone; laminate; natural stone; cast polymer/solid surface; tile; and other materials such as porcelain slab, metal, wood, and recycled materials. Total demand is also segmented by market as follows: residential buildings, commercial buildings, and vehicles.

To illustrate historical trends, total demand is provided in annual series from 2011 to 2021; the various segments are reported at five-year intervals for 2011, 2016, and 2021.

Countertop demand is measured at the fabricator level (the point at which the material is formed into a countertop) for all surface materials. Edging and backsplashes are included in demand figures. For the purposes of this report, market share is calculated at the countertop material suppliers' level. The market is comprised of demand for materials supplied to countertop fabricators by manufacturers of laminate sheet, slabs of solid surface materials, and engineered stone, tile, and other materials.

Tile made from metal and glass (including bronze, copper, glass, iron, nickel, pewter, stainless steel, tin, and zinc) are included under tile demand numbers for the purpose of this report and not under the material type.

Integrated sinks were included in demand if they featured functional counter space on either side of the sink (only the counter space itself was included in the countertop estimate – the sink itself was excluded). If the integrated sink only featured a small edge or lip, the entire integrated sink was excluded.
