Commercial Refrigeration Equipment: Canada


This report forecasts to 2028 commercial refrigeration equipment demand and production in nominal US dollars at the manufacturer level in Canada. Total demand is segmented by product in terms of: reach-in and walk-in refrigerators and freezers; beverage refrigeration equipment; display cases; ice machines; refrigerated vending machines; other products such as chillers, cryogenic equipment, and compressor systems; and replacement parts. Total demand is also segmented by market as follows: food and beverage retail; foodservice; food and beverage production; and other markets such as office buildings, medical and scientific establishments, and pharmaceutical production facilities.

To illustrate historical trends, total demand is provided in annual series from 2013 to 2023; production and the various segments are reported at five-year intervals for 2013, 2018, and 2023.

Excluded from the scope of this report are consumer-type refrigerators, transportation refrigeration systems, and large industrial refrigeration products such as evaporative air coolers and condensing units. Commercial transportation refrigeration systems are also excluded. Parts and components used in the retrofitting of machines is also excluded.

For any given historical year, US dollar amounts are obtained from values expressed in the applicable local currency. These local currency values are converted to US dollars at the average annual exchange rate for that year. For forecast years, the US dollar amounts assume the same annual exchange rate as that prevailing in 2022.
