For the purposes of this report, cabinets are defined as cases or cupboards with shelves and/or drawers and doors that are used for storing or displaying items. These enclosed units are affixed to a structure and are not transportable to other locations in a building.
Excluded from the scope of this report are products with similar functions that are freestanding (not attached to the wall) or are not enclosed such as: freestanding or wall mounted shelving units; furniture such as bookcases, sideboards, credenzas, armoires, media consoles, shoe-benches, entertainment centers (freestanding), hutches, or buffets; and modular storage systems.
For garage cabinets, this report only considers those cabinets attached to the walls of a garage; cabinets that are part of mobile tool chests, carts, or other garage organization systems are excluded from this report.
Cabinets are also found in recreational vehicles and boats, civilian aircraft, and other transport vehicles such as trains. Demand for these applications generally account for less than 2% of sales in any given year and have been excluded from this report, as they have little impact on the market outlook.
Key macroeconomic indicators are also provided with quantified trends. Other various topics, including profiles of pertinent leading companies, are covered in this report. A full outline of report items by page is available in the Table of Contents.
