The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted all industries specifically the shipping industry. The sudden shutdown led to a decline in industrial activity, which affected shipping demand. Travel and trade restrictions prevented ships from crossing the waterway, causing logistics challenges and delays. The safety measures demanded by the pandemic also increased operating costs for shipbuilders. Despite these challenges, the disruption allowed digital solutions and remote operations to adapt to the new constant environment. People still feel the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on shipping as the industry is still back on track from the hit and now they are working toward recovery and resilience.
The number of cruise ships is really growing, and this happens because of many reasons. The increasing need for efficient and eco-friendly freight transportation has been the reason that companies have started to favor ships as a legitimate solution. Barges come up with a really great choice for the on-going problem of shipping bulk commodities such as grain, coal and petroleum products at a reasonable price as compared to the buying and owning an expensive truck or rail vehicle. Moreover, the development of inland waterways and infrastructure enhancements have also become the growth driver of the transportation, thus, the barge has become the current limit. All of these factors are amplifying the barge transportation market growth.
Additionally, technological advances are increasing the operational efficiency and safety of ships, attracting more businesses to use this mode of transport. Additionally, innovations such as GPS tracking systems, automated loading and unloading processes and propulsion systems which do not harm the environment has increased interest in shipping. The focus on reducing carbon emissions in the export procedure has also led to the development of the industry.
