Light vehicle sales in the US are growing but remain in the recovery phase with sales volumes in 2023 being 8.4% below 2019 levels. This can be partly attributed to rising interest rates which are discouraging credit-backed vehicle purchases. Concerning the EV transition, the US remains the least developed among major economies, with EVs only making up 11.9% of new passenger car registrations in 2023. However, the IRA is expected to provide the needed funding to boost future EV growth.
