Market Definition
Phosphorous is a combustible nonmetal generally found in two allotropic forms: white and red. Among others, phosphoric acid, phosphorous acid, phosphorus oxychloride, phosphorus pentachloride, phosphorus tribromide, sodium hypophosphite, tributyl phosphate, and triethyl phosphate are examples of phosphorous derivatives. Phosphorus derivative phosphoric acid is a crystalline acid generally weak, colorless, and odorless. These inorganic materials are corrosive to the ferrous metal & alloys and possess good solubility in water. These tend to decompose in high temperatures. These may form toxic fumes when combined with alcohol. Thermal, dry kiln and wet processes produced the phosphoric acid. It gives soft drinks a tangy flavor and prevents the growth of mold and bacteria, which can multiply easily in a sugary solution. Most of the soda's acidity also comes from phosphoric acid.
Phosphorus is first turned into phosphorus pentoxide through a chemical manufacturing process. It's then treated again to become phosphoric acid.
