Tonometry Device Market, by DeviceType (Applanation Tonometers, Pascal Dynamic Contour Tonometers, Rebound Tonometers, Indentation Tonometers), by Application (Heart failure, Hypertension, Arteriosclerosis, Others (COPD, and Diabetes etc.)), by End User (Hospitals, Specialty Clinics and Others), and by Region (North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa)- Size, Share, Outlook, and Opportunity Analysis, 2022 - 2030
Tonometry means "to measure pressure" while applanation means "to flatten out." Radial artery (AT) is performed by placing a handheld tonometer (strain gauge pressure sensor) over the radial artery and applying gentle pressure to partially flatten the artery. Tonometers are instruments that let ophthalmologists measure the intraocular pressure (IOP) inside the eye. IOP stands for intraocular pressure. A diagnostic procedure called tonometry can help determine a patient's glaucoma risk. With this eye condition, there is too much fluid pressure inside the eye, which can harm the patient's optic nerve and, if left untreated, cause permanent vision loss. Tonometers are useful for spotting this condition, which typically does not manifest symptoms until much later. The older population is a prominent target for this type of sickness. Furthermore, people with diabetes have an increased chance of developing glaucoma. Tonometers are therefore increasingly beneficial for this target population.
Market Dynamics
Major companies operating in the global tonometry device market are focused on organic growth strategies such as product launch and approvals, which is expected to drive growth of the global tonometry device market over the forecast period. For instance, in August 2022, in August, Millar, Inc., a medical equipment manufacturing company announced that it had received approval from the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) in Australia for its Mikro-Cath Pressure Catheter. The Mikro-Cath is a single use pressure catheter used for medical research and diagnostic purposes. The catheter is indicated to measure cardiovascular, intra-compartmental, and airway pressures in the human body under short-term limited body contact (<24 hours). Moreover, For instance, in October 2021, CardieX, a global health technology company, had announced the launch of a wearable device, a smartwatch, developed by CardieX subsidiary ATCOR, a medical device company, using SphygmoCor technology and Mobvoi, an electronics company using Arty Heart Health analytics platform.
