A microkeratome is a high-precision surgical instrument used for Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty (ALK) or Laser Eye Surgery (LASIK). A microkeratome comprises of an oscillating blade that is intended to create the corneal flap for surgeries allied to refractive errors. This surgical instrument is used in DSAEK (Descemet’s Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty) to cut a reedy layer from the cornea’s back which is then relocated into the inheritor’s cornea. The microkeratome and vacuum units are assembled, tested, and inspected before the surgery, , to confirm appropriate functioning.
