Evaporative cooling uses the principles of thermodynamics to create a cool environment. In order to do this, the water must be heated first. This is done by a water pump that streamlines the absorption of water into the evaporative media. A typical evaporative cooling system has three main components: the fan, the evaporative media, and the water pump. The fan is usually driven by an electric motor and draws the air across the evaporative media. The evaporative media is a thick pad that has several layers to improve the surface area. The pads also act as air filters and are a good way to remove a wide range of contaminants from the air.
