Huge amount of waste is generated from households, schools, offices, market places, restaurants, industries, commercial complexes, agriculture, and places. Hence, trash bags are required for collection, storage, transportation, and disposal of generated waste. Increasing waste generation is expected to drive demand for trash bags over the forecast period.
Market Dynamics
Increasing waste generation is expected to provide potential opportunities for trash bags market in Europe. According to the European Environment Agency, between the time period 2010 and 2016, the total waste generation was increased by 3.0% (around 74.7 million tons) in the EU-28 countries. Absolute total waste was increased by 6.0% (48.1 million tons) and the waste generation per capita went up by 70 kg per capita. According to the same source, in 2016, water and waste (28.0%), households (23.0%), and manufacturing (21.0%) sectors generated largest shares of wastes. These three sectors produced almost 72% of all wastes in the EU-28 countries. The average amount of wastes generated per person, excluding major mineral wastes, in the EU countries was 1,783 kg/capita, in 2016.
Growing need for waste management is anticipated to boost the market growth. For instance, municipal corporations are focusing on separating the collection of waste for proper waste management. For instance, in 2011, Milan (Italy) introduced a separate collection of kitchen waste for composting and anaerobic digestion. The kitchen waste is collected twice a week via small bins with a special airy structure. This is a main driver in increasing the separate waste collection rate from 35% to 54%.
