Europe Advanced Biodiesel Market, by Raw Material (Trap Grease & Brown Grease, Yellow Grease, Algae, Agriculture & Forest Residue, Municipal Solid Wastes (MSWs), and Others), by End-use Industry (Transportation (Automotive, Aviation, and Marine), Power Generation, and Others), and by Country (U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Poland, Russia, Czech Republic, and Rest of Europe) - Size, Share, Outlook, and Opportunity Analysis, 2022 - 2028
Advanced biodiesel is biofuel, which is produced by gasification of biogenic wastes or lignocellulosic feedstock for producing syngas. The syngas is then converted to biomass to liquid by using a process, which converts the mix of carbon dioxide and hydrogen into liquid hydrocarbons. Furthermore, biotechnology or catalysis are used for converting the plant sugars into biodiesel. Advanced biodiesel technology has a huge potential of reaching its commercial potential and contributing to the low-carbon transportation in Europe.
Market Dynamics
Advanced biodiesel market is expected to witness significant growth over the forecast period, owing to rising potential of the renewable resources in overcoming environmental challenges by ensuring that dependence on the fossil fuels has been reduced. Various schemes have been introduced by the government which are providing financial assistance for renewable energy. For instance, in May 2019, the U.K. launched third Contracts for Difference (CfD) round to support up to 6 gigawatt (GW) of new renewable capacity. The aim of the Contracts for Difference is to support low carbon technologies and investment in renewable energy. The growth of the market is also supported by the increasing investments by major market players in second generation biofuels, which are produced majorly from residues, waste materials, and non-food crops. However, growth of the market is restrained by the high costs of production, which include energy costs and feedstock costs.
