Cardiopulmonary Bypass Equipment Market, by Product Type (Single Roller Pump and Double Roller Pump), by End User (Hospitals and Ambulatory Surgical Centers), and by Region (North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa) - Size, Share, Outlook, and Opportunity Analysis, 2022 - 2030
Cardiopulmonary bypass equipment is a machine which takes over the function of heart and lungs to maintain the circulation of blood and the oxygen content of the patient's body during coronary bypass heart surgery. This equipment also known as heart lung machine. Cardiopulmonary bypass machine consists of two main components, the pump and the oxygenator which remove oxygen-deprived blood from a patient's body and replace it with oxygen-rich blood through a series of hoses. Surgeons are able to perform coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), for valve repair or repair of cardiac anomalies, and aortic aneurysm repairs, along with treatment of other cardiac-related diseases.
Market Dynamics
Increasing adoption of unhealthy dietary habits, lack of proper exercise, increasing stress, and sedentary lifestyles are increasing occurrences of heart-related diseases, especially heart failures. This in turn is increasing demand for cardiopulmonary bypass equipment, thus expected to boost market growth over the forecast period. For instance, in October 2021, according to the data published the World Health Organization, approximately 17.9 million people die from cardiovascular diseases, which is an estimated 31% of all deaths worldwide. Heart and blood vessels disorders comprise one of the main causes of death worldwide. Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are one of the leading causes of death, ranking first globally. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 7.4 million people die from coronary heart disease and 6.7 million people as a result of a stroke globally. A sedentary lifestyle increases insulin resistance, induces obesity, increases blood glucose levels, plasma lipids and prothrombotic factors. According to a recent report by World Health Organization, 1/3 of worldwide deaths are due to CV disease. According to a report from the American Heart Association, sedentary behavior is linked with increased CV-specific and overall mortality and regarded as a disease burden. Besides, different studies have also shown that higher sedentary time is related to depressive symptoms and decreased psychological well-being and health-related quality of life. Additionally, a study by the American Heart Association in 2021, with 10,261 adults found that individuals who have light, moderate or vigorous physical activity had a significantly lower risk for CV disease mortality, regardless of their metabolic risk factors.
