The breast implant is made up of a soft silicone shell called an implant and is filled with a gel or a saltwater solution. Breast implants are used for breast augmentation, which is surgery to increase breast size. This surgery involves placing breast implants under the breast tissue or chest muscles. A breast implant is a prosthesis used to change the shape, size, and contour of a person's breast. Breast implants are ideally used for breast augmentation which refers to as augmentation mammoplasty. Breast implants are medical devices that are used to augment the size of the breasts, either for cosmetic or reconstruction purposes, following mastectomy or to correct a congenital abnormality. Breast implants can be either round shaped or teardrop/anatomical shaped. Round breast implants are the most commonly used breast implants and are highly preferred among women during breast augmentation procedures. Teardrop breast implants, also known as contoured implants, are designed to maintain their shape with a sloped contoured that fills out more at the bottom than at the top giving the natural shape of the breasts.
