Metal buckle accessories are circular connecting components made of metals such as iron, steel, copper, zinc alloys, and stainless steel. They are primarily used to connect, fix, adjust, or decorate various items. These components are widely used in industries such as fashion, luggage, outdoor equipment, and industrial products, including zippers on jeans, buttons on shirts, belt buckles, handles on suitcases, shoulder strap buckles on backpacks, and lock fasteners on handbags.
According to CRI, with the rapid development of manufacturing industries and increasing consumer demand for high-quality products, the global demand for metal buckles and accessories continues to grow. These items have become essential components in industries such as clothing, luggage, outdoor equipment, and automotive sectors.
The major global producers of metal buckles and accessories include South Korea, Japan, China, Germany, and the United States. China is the world's largest production base, particularly dominating the mid- and low-end markets. South Korea and Japan focus on high-end and customized markets, while Germany is renowned for high-quality and precision manufacturing, especially in the industrial usage market.
From a demand perspective, North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region are key consumption markets for metal buckles. The United States, as a major player in North America, has significant demand for metal buckles, particularly in the fashion, luggage, outdoor gear, and automotive sectors. In Europe, countries like Germany, the UK, France, and Italy have stable demand for these components. In the Asia-Pacific region, the demand for metal buckles is increasing, particularly in Southeast Asia, where manufacturing, especially in the clothing and furniture industries, is rapidly expanding.
In recent years, Vietnam has become an important manufacturing hub, particularly in sectors such as apparel, footwear, and luggage. These industries have a high demand for metal buckles, driving the growth of Vietnam's hardware product industry. However, Vietnam's metal processing industry is still at a relatively low-to-mid level, which means the country remains highly reliant on imported metal buckle products.
CRI data shows that Vietnam's total imports of metal buckles amounted to USD 156 million in 2023, with imports reaching nearly USD 109 million from January to July 2024. The market demand is expected to continue growing in the coming years.
The main countries and regions supplying metal buckles to Vietnam include China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan. Due to its proximity, complete industrial chain, and cost-effective products, China remains a key source of imports. According to CRI, From 2021 to 2024, the top three import sources for metal buckles to Vietnam were China, South Korea, and Hong Kong. Key exporters include PUNGKOOK CORPORATION, PARK INTERNATIONAL CO LTD, and FENG TAY ENTERPRISES CO LTD. Major importers in Vietnam include SIMONE ACCESSORIES COLLECTION VIETNAM, THAIBINH GROUP, and TBS GROUP.
As Vietnam's domestic manufacturing market continues to expand, the demand for metal buckles will continue to grow. Despite the rapid development of the metal buckle industry, Vietnam will still rely on high-quality, high-tech buckle products, primarily imported from China, South Korea, and Japan. CRI forecasts that metal buckle imports will increase in the coming years. CRI recommends that foreign manufacturers of metal buckles research the Vietnamese market and, if necessary, consider establishing local production facilities to capture opportunities in this growing market.
