Aluminum is in sufficient supply and easy to obtain, with obvious economic advantages. Copper resources are limited, and China is a country with scarce copper resources. According to data from the U.S. National Resources Bureau in 2015, the global copper reserves are about 700 million tons, while China only accounts for 30 million tons. The price of aluminum has better cost control than copper. Overall, the price of aluminum is about one-fourth of that of copper. Due to the larger cross-sectional area of aluminum conductors under the same performance requirements, the demand for insulation and protection materials of aluminum core cables has increased slightly, which has correspondingly reduced the price advantage of aluminum conductors. At present, the price of aluminum alloy cables on the market is generally only about 75% of that of copper core cables.
