Europe Instant Adhesive Market Outlook, 2027
Electronic innovation touches nearly every facet of our lives. We drive hybrid and electric vehicles with advanced driver assistance systems; use smartphones to manage our work and play; see a new world through augmented reality (AR) headsets; enjoy personalised on-screen entertainment while flying in airplanes; and control our living space through connected home devices. Today’s consumers expect their electronic products to be reliable, robust, and responsive. Whether it is a smart household appliance or a smart handheld device, demanding users want exceptional performance and value. to ensure cost-effective, high-reliability performance and simplified manufacturing for today’s miniaturised accessory designs. The field of electronics manufacturing is diverse with hundreds of thousands of different applications, many with their own set of individual adhesive requirements. Electronics design engineers regularly face the dual challenge of tracking down the correct adhesive for their application while also focusing on aspects such as keeping material costs low. Ease of introduction into a production line is also important as this can reduce cycle time while simultaneously improving product performance and quality. That facilitates electrical interconnect, provides structural integrity, offers critical protection, and transfers heat for reliable performance. Thermally conductive adhesives are ideal for bonding heat sinks to PCBs. These adhesives have been developed to transfer heat quickly and efficiently away from sensitive electronics whilst being electrically insulated to prevent short circuits. These adhesive products have been designed with a degree of flexibility to withstand differential thermal expansion and contraction between PCB and heat sink materials. To be able to survive solder reflow and wave soldering processes, electronics adhesives have been developed to withstand high temperature peaks to match these processing requirements. The viscosity of potting and encapsulation adhesives has been optimised to ensure electronic components are properly coated and sealed. Tack-free conformal coating protects sensitive PCB’s and components against vibration and environmental damage, as well as allows expansion and contraction of components, therefore minimising stress on fragile circuitry. The non-blooming instant adhesive range, coupled with a special non-flammable activator (which also minimises blooming), allows rapid wire tacking and assembly without leaving a white powdery residue on components.
According to the research report, Europe Instant Adhesive Market Outlook, 2027, published by Bonafide Research, the market is expected to grow rapidly at a CAGR of 7.99% over the forecast period. Conventional cured cyanoacrylates have a major market share of nearly 81%. Medical and other applications have the highest application of instant adhesives in the European region. While instant adhesives used in the manufacturing of electronics drive the demand for instant adhesives in Europe, which is expected to be the fastest growing over the forecast period at a CAGR of 8.71%. Instant adhesives have application in the electronics industry for bonding of heat sinks, bonding of Surface Mount Devices (SMD’s), bonding of exterior plastic housings, conformal coatings, encapsulation, potting, and wire tacking.
Germany leads the instant adhesive market in Europe with the highest market share of 21%, driven by the electronics industry application. During the forecast period, the market is expected to grow at a 7.76% annual rate. Electronics have a wide scale application of instant adhesives in Germany. Germany has long been known as one of the leading electronics manufacturing countries. Some of the large electronics manufacturing companies in Germany are Panasonic Marketing Europe GmbH Wiesbaden, CECONOMY AG Düsseldorf, BSH Hausgeräte GmbH Munich, Marquardt GmbH Rietheim, Samsung Semiconductor Europe GmbH Munich, Vorwerk & Co, EntServ Deutschland GmbH Böblingen, and Lekkerland Deutschland GmbH & Co.
Epoxy-based instant adhesives are gaining traction in the market due to their increased use in medical devices and medical surgeries in the region. One of the biggest advantages of medical epoxy adhesives is their ability to withstand extremely high temperatures, including most sterilisation techniques. This allows biocompatible medical epoxy adhesives to be used in both disposable and reusable medical devices. Epoxy medical adhesives also provide good adhesion to a variety of substrates such as metals, glass, plastics, and other surfaces. Medical epoxy adhesives are available in one- and two-part formulations, as heat curing or RT curing systems, to meet different assembly requirements.
The outbreak of coronavirus had a negative impact on the instant adhesives market. severe disruptions in manufacturing and supply chain operations as a result of lockdowns and other limitations imposed by governments all over the world. Furthermore, consumer demand has decreased as people are now more focused on removing non-essential expenses from their budgets since the general economic situation of most people has been badly impacted. The European instant adhesives market is likely to revive as regional government agencies begin to lift these enforced lockdowns.
