Global Small Wind Turbine Market Size study & Forecast, by Application (On-gird, Off-grid), by Axis Type (Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines, Vertical Axis Wind Turbines) and Regional Analysis, 2023-2030
Global Small Wind Turbine Market is valued at approximately USD 1.20 billion in 2022 and is anticipated to grow with a healthy growth rate of more than 9.22% over the forecast period 2023-2030. A small wind turbine, also known as a micro wind turbine or residential wind turbine, is a device that harnesses the power of the wind to generate electricity on a smaller scale. It is designed to be used in residential, rural, or small commercial settings with sufficient wind resources. The generated electricity can be used to power various electrical devices, charge batteries for energy storage, or even be fed back into the electrical grid if the system is grid-connected. Small wind turbines are commonly used in off-grid applications, such as powering remote homes, cabins, boats, telecommunications equipment, and water pumping systems. The Small Wind Turbine market is expanding because of factors such as stringent government regulations towards carbon emissions and an increase in demand for efficient electricity.
Governments around the world are recognizing the importance of renewable energy sources and taking initiatives for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and combating climate change. As a result, they have implemented various policies, incentives, and regulations to promote the adoption of renewable energy technologies, including wind power, which is driving the market growth. For instance, The Chinese government, On September 22, 2020, declared that China would enhance its Intended Nationally Determined Contributions by enacting more forceful policies and efforts it also aims to become carbon neutral by 2060, with the peak of CO2 emissions occurring by 2030. Similarly, the German government established further targets in July 2021 to cut carbon emissions and attain greenhouse gas neutrality by 2045. The country wants to cut its carbon emissions by 65% by 2030 and 88% by 2040. Thus, rising government initiatives for limiting carbon emission is driving market growth. In addition, technological advancements in the small wind power industry and rising investment in the industry are creating lucrative opportunities for the market. However, the availability and adoption of alternative distributed generation sources and high initial costs stifle market growth throughout the forecast period of 2023-2030.
The key regions considered for the Global Small Wind Turbine Market study includes Asia Pacific, North America, Europe, Latin America, and Middle East & Africa. North America dominated the market in 2022 owing to the dominance of key market players, rising adoption of renewable sources of energy and rising government initiatives. Asia Pacific is expected to grow significantly during the forecast period, owing to factors such as the rising residential industry, geographic expansion of key players, and active participation of government and nonprofit organizations in the market space.

Recent Developments in the Market:In February 2023, German wind turbine maker BRAUN Windturbinen GmbH announced the installation of 7.5 KW of small wind turbines. With the Smart Wind SW7.5 and a 6.0 kW heating rod acting as a backup heating system, the system runs in three-phases parallel to the grid. The heating rod is automatically turned on in accordance with the turbine characteristic curve when 2.5 kW is reached in grid-parallel operation. The little wind turbine has a programmable and installed system for monitoring the temperature of household hot water.
In April 2021, Engie announced its collaboration with Eocycle to offer consumers in Belgium a collection of dispersed green energy solutions resembling a miniature wind turbine. The EOX M-26 is a horizontal axis wind turbine with a tip height of 51 metres, a 90kW turbine, and an annual energy output of around 260 MWh.
