Global Diesel Multiple Unit Market Size study & Forecast, by Type (Diesel-Electric Multiple Unit, Diesel-Hydraulic Multiple Unit), by Application (Long-Distance Trips, Mid-Distance Trips, Others) and Regional Analysis, 2023-2030
Global Diesel Multiple Unit Market is valued at approximately USD xx billion in 2022 and is anticipated to grow with a healthy growth rate of more than xx% over the forecast period 2023-2030. A Diesel Multiple Unit is a type of self-propelled train consisting of multiple carriages with its own diesel engine which allows for better acceleration, deceleration, and flexibility in operation. They have been developed to give faster service for suburban areas where traffic density is high. The Diesel Multiple Unit market is expanding because of factors such as the rising number of passengers in the trains and rapid urbanization. Its importance has progressively increased during the forecast period 2023-2030.
The growth of urban populations and increased mobility needs in suburban areas have driven demand for cost-effective and efficient public transportation solutions, making DMUs an attractive choice for certain commuter routes. According to Statista, the global number of train users is expected to rise by 92.6 million around 9.58% between 2023 and 2027 and is projected to exceed 1.1 billion users by 2027. Furthermore, in 2020, the Indian rail travel market was worth approximately USD 7 billion and is projected to reach a value of around USD 9 billion by 2027. Another important factor that drives the Diesel Multiple Unit market is increasing urbanization. It often leads to a higher concentration of people in cities, resulting in increased demand for efficient and reliable public transportation options. DMUs plays a crucial role in meeting this demand by providing cost-effective and flexible transportation solutions for short- to medium-distance commuter routes. In addition, in 2022, the worldwide urbanization rate reached 57%. North America stands out with the most significant urbanization levels, as over four-fifth of its population resides within urban areas. Moreover, rising government initiatives for public transportation infrastructure and rising technological advancement in efficient diesel engines are anticipated to create lucrative growth opportunities for the market over the forecast period. However, environmental concerns regarding diesel engines and the high cost of installation stifle market growth throughout the forecast period of 2023-2030.
The key regions considered for the Global Diesel Multiple Unit Market study includes Asia Pacific, North America, Europe, Latin America, and Middle East & Africa. Europe dominated the market in 2022 owing to the presence of leading rail vehicle manufacturers and increasing number of strategic partnerships among OEMs in the region. Furthermore, Asia Pacific is expected to grow significantly during the forecast period, owing to factors such as growing railway infrastructure and an increasing number of passengers on trains in the region.
