Vascular Disease Devices Market by Product (Stents, Balloons, Catheters, Plaque Modification Devices, Hemodynamic Flow Alteration Devices, and Others), and End User (Hospitals and Cardiac Centers, and Ambulatory Surgical Center): Global Opportunity Analysis and Industry Forecast, 2021––2030
The global vascular disease devices market was valued at $26,522.24 million in 2020, and is projected to reach $ 51,802.14 million by 2030, registering a CAGR of 6.50% from 2021 to 2030.
The vascular diseases refer to any pathological condition that affects natural blood circulatory system, such as peripheral artery disease (PAD). The vascular diseases include stroke, peripheral artery disease (PAD), abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), carotid artery disease (CAD), arteriovenous malformation (AVM), critical limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI), pulmonary embolism (blood clots), deep vein thrombosis (DVT), chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), and varicose veins. The incidence of vascular diseases has increased significantly over the last few years. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), an estimated 17.9 million people died from cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) in 2019. Vascular diseases may be caused due to high blood pressure, cholesterol deposition, injury, genetics, and infections. Diabetes, hypertension, obesity, alcohol consumption, and tobacco smoking are the risk factors for vascular diseases.
Specially designed devices such as balloons, stents, catheters, and filters are used to perform various vascular surgeries. The artery stent is a small, metal mesh tube that expands inside a coronary artery. A stent is often placed during or immediately after angioplasty. It helps prevent the artery from closing up again. Similarly, at the blockage, the balloon is inflated and the spring-like stent expands and locks into place inside the artery. The stent stays in the artery permanently to hold it open and improve blood flow to the heart. In addition, cardiac catheter is a very small, flexible, hollow tube put into a blood vessel in the groin, arm, or neck. Then surgeon threads it through the blood vessel into the aorta and the heart. The cardiac catheterization is used to diagnose and evaluate common heart and blood vessel problems such as chest pain or an abnormal stress test due to coronary artery disease, heart valve conditions like a leaky or narrowed valve, a high blood pressure condition in the lungs, or blood clots.
Increase in prevalence of vascular diseases worldwide, drive the growth of the vascular disease devices market. For instance, according to a report by the American Heart Association, in 2019, 197.2 million people were living with ischemic heart disease (IHD). In addition, increase in diabetes and hypertension propels the growth of the vascular disease devices market. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2021, an estimated 1.28 billion adults aged 30-79 years worldwide have hypertension. The older people are more susceptible to vascular disease. Thus, rise in the geriatric population further contributed in the growth of vascular disease devices market. However, product recalls and failures may limit the growth of the market.
The vascular disease devices market is segmented on the basis of product, end-user and region. By product, the market is divided into stents, balloons, catheters, plaque modification devices, hemodynamic flow alteration devices, and others. The stents are further classified into coronary stents, peripheral stents, and stents-related products.
