Tunnel Field Effect Transistor Market By Product Type (Lateral Tunneling, Vertical Tunneling), By End User (Consumer Electronics, Automotive, Industrial, Aerospace and Defense, Others): Global Opportunity Analysis and Industry Forecast, 2021-2031
The tunnel field-effect transistor (TFET) is an experimental type of transistor. This device is a promising candidate for low power electronics because its fundamental switching mechanism differs from that of a metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET).Instead of modulating thermionic emission over a barrier, as is the case with conventional MOSFETs, TFETs switch by modulating quantum tunneling through a barrier. The thermal Maxwell–Boltzmann tail of carriers, which restricts MOSFET drain current sub-threshold swing to approximately 60 mV/decade of current at room temperature, is therefore not a problem for TFETs.
Region wise, the tunnel field effect transistor market trends are analyzed across North America (the U.S., Canada), Europe (UK, Germany, France and rest of Europe), Asia-Pacific (China, Japan, India and rest of Asia-Pacific) and LAMEA (Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa). North America, specifically the U.S., remains a significant participant in the global tunnel field effect transistor. Major organizations and government institutions in the country are intensely putting resources into the technology.
