A digital sphygmomanometer or blood pressure (BP) monitor is a device that measures blood pressure, particularly in arteries and displays digital reading. Blood pressure is one of the main risk factors for chronic heart diseases, which are the leading cause of death around the world.

The measuring devices are usually of three types: mercury sphygmomanometers, an aneroid sphygmomanometer and electronic/digital sphygmomanometer, The digital sphygmomanometers are being adopted and preferred owing to toxicity issues of mercury sphygmomanometers and noise & error issues of aneroid sphygmomanometer. An oscillometric measuring method is used by a digital or electronic sphygmomanometer. It is simple to use, battery-powered, automated, and devoid of mercury. 

The driving factors for digital sphygmomanometer market are rise in prevalence of blood – related disorders such as hypertension, increase in innovations in digital sphygmomanometer devices and rise in adoption of digital sphygmomanometers instead of traditional mercury base sphygmomanometers.
